...The Cork Screw...
Goat Cheese soaked in Red Wine, Brie Cheese, and Cheddar with Blue Cheese
Prosciutto, Hard Salami, and a Baguette
Mm...
Today Zach and I stopped by this very cute little shopping area and came across a wine tasting room. It was absolutely wonderful. Cranberries make white wine amazing and Zach loved his almonds with his scotch, really brings out the flavor. I don't know where Zach learned all about this but he had an incredible amount of knowledge... must be all the random history channel specials he watches. They had to pay off eventually right! Now Zach has had a little taste of the food I grew up on and apparently now moving back to Switzerland may not be an issue :) who knows...

My Big Beer And Schnitzel!!
My Fancy Beer Photography :)
I Busted Out The Braids For The Night!
This Is Not My Kind Of Schnitzel...
The Stolen Goods
It was yet another night of fun and unexpected surprises...hmm that seems to happen every time I make plans... Anyhoo we decided to go to Das Rheinland an authentic German restaurant, that is also all decked out to make it extra fun. Unfortunately when I called to see what time they closed I got a Hispanic families son screaming Como Esta?! at me continuously with a lot of noise in the back. I had a feeling something was not right. Maybe it was the fiesta happening on the other end of the line that tipped me off?... Well it turns out that Omaha's Das Rheinland was closed November 2006 for anti-Semites. Wonderful... So last minute I am surfing the net to find a replacement for me and my friends (we were very determined to have authentic German food that night!) Zach came across a little place called Gerda's Bakery and Restaurant. So we go with it. It was cute, a very homey feeling to it. It was a Post Office back in the 30's. Not as exciting as Das Rheinland would have been with its ambiance but at least Gerda wont be flashing her swastika at me, always a plus in life. The cheese and meat platter could have been brought up a notch, ham and bean soup was excellent, but their schnitzel..??.. more like chicken fried steak... Gerda what is going on with your schnitzel?? A major plus was the giant pint size beers. I tried every ones different beers that they got. I like the light colored ones and the REALLY dark colored ones but not in the middle. I also found out that night I am an even cheaper drunk than I had already thought. By the end of the night I had to call Gerda back due to that fact that my drunk butt signed my name when I paid with a credit card but never filled in a total or tip or anything... ya just the name. Told her to write the total in for me. I did however realize we were out of toilet paper at the apartment so me and Heather decided to bring home a souvenir... Gerda's extra roll of TP. I cut myself off after I realized I had just asked SeanJohn if he had been to Checkalsylvania?... Wait...What??? (Checkaslovakia and Transylvania mix for those who don't get it) So then I became the joke of the night: Checkalsylvania where they are known for drinking their beer and blood. SeanJohn may be from Checkalsyvania, Gerda may not be rockin the Schnitzel, but I came home with the extra TP. So I think I am the real winner here.
